- Jayson Boebert had two run-ins with Colorado law enforcement in recent days.
- In one incident, officers were called to his home after his 18-year-old son said Jayson Boebert shoved him.
- Boebert is now facing five different misdemeanor charges.
Jayson Boebert, the ex-husband of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, shoved his 18-year-old son, put his hand into his mouth, and then proceeded to grab a rifle when he became aware that his son was calling the police, according to an arrest warrant.
Tyler Boebert's alleged altercation with his father came just days after the congresswoman and Jayson Boebert had their own row at a restaurant near what was once the couple's home. Jayson Boebert is now facing five misdemeanors and one petty offense related to the incidents. He was charged with assault in the third degree, harassment, and prohibited use of a weapon in connection with the incident at their home. As for the restaurant, he is facing two more misdemeanors — disorderly conduct, and obstructing a police officer — along with one petty offense related to criminal trespass. He has since posted bond and is no longer in custody. Business Insider has been repeatedly unable to reach him for comment.
The two arrest affidavits obtained by BI shed more light on the widely reported restaurant incident, which is just the latest in a string of run-ins Jayson Boebert has had with law enforcement. The Garfield County Sheriff department also released his booking photo.
According to Garfield County Sheriff Deputy Ashley Ramirez, she responded to Tyler Boebert's 911 call at just after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. Tyler had told a dispatcher that his father had pushed him to the ground, put his hand in his mouth, and thrown his phone across the house. When Jayson heard the 911 call, Tyler also said that his dad had grabbed a rifle but he couldn't give an exact description since "there was many firearms in the residence and [he] was unable to say what type of rifle it was." Tyler also said during the call that he suspected his father was under the influence of alcohol.
Ramirez and a local officer who responded to the scene proceeded with caution since they were unsure if Jayson Boebert was still armed. Upon arriving, Ramirez spoke to a local manager of a bar and grill who said she had driven Jayson Boebert home. She also denied seeing any altercation between the father and son.
Police dismiss Jayson Boebert's claim that he was a victim of domestic violence.
As for the restaurant incident, Silt Police Department announced on Wednesday afternoon that Jayson Boebert's claims that the congresswoman punched him "were unfounded."
According to a separate affidavit, Jayson Boebert repeatedly defied officers' requests to leave the restaurant after police were called. Body camera footage shows one officer physically removing Boebert's hand from a door frame as he tried to avoid leaving.
"'I'm gonna drink some drinks before the fucker closes. I'm gonna get so fucking drunk, I don't don't even want to talk to you mother fuckers,'" Jayson Boebert is quoted as telling officers, according to their report. "Jayson stated he would be so drunk it would take a couple of days for him to sober up so officers could speak with him."
Congresswoman Boebert told officers that she met up with her ex-husband in an effort to better the couple's relationship following their divorce. She said that when they began discussing their new partners, the conversation got heated. Boebert did admit to officers that she placed a finger on her ex-husband's nose, which led him to call the police and claim he had been a victim of domestic abuse.
"Lauren stated Jayson told her 'Congratulations your name is going to be in the headline,'" according to officers.
Congresswoman Boebert's office declined to comment to BI. She has been in the news herself after making the decision to switch congressional districts when it became clear she might lose her reelection fight.
