NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn is getting a new bishop Tuesday.
The Vatican announced in September that Bishop Robert Brennan would be the eighth man to hold the position in a diocese that encompasses 1.5 million Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens.
Brennan grew up on Long Island and most recently served as the Bishop of Columbus, Ohio. He also speaks fluent Spanish.
He will replace Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, who held the post for 18 years.
