COVID-19 has left many without a job, and emptied offices. Those who have kept their job are mostly working from home. Many companies are now hiring for remote roles — and LinkedIn has released data showing which remote jobs are proving most popular with job seekers.
The company has analysed all full-time remote jobs that companies have paid to post on LinkedIn between March 1 and May 31 in six European countries. It ranked these jobs based on the growth in applications from March 1 onwards, compared to January and February.
Below, we list the two most-popular jobs in each country, along with the average salary for those job titles, based on Glassdoor data, and the take-home pay, when taxes are accounted for in each country. We've also noted which companies are hiring for those roles remotely.
UK — Average national salary: $47,733 (£37,154)
Head of marketing
The average salary is $79,940 (£62,223) per year — minus UK taxes, take-home pay is around $57,328 (£44,623). There are currently 22 remote head of marketing roles available that have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month. Companies such as analytics database company Exasol and the photo editing software company Skylum Software are among those hiring.
Data analyst
The average salary is $38,560 (£30,014) per year — take-home pay is $30,763 (£23,945). There are 29 remote data analyst roles available that have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month. Firms such as the recruitment company Omega Resource Group and the UK Export Finance, the government department, are currently hiring data analysts.
France — Average national salary: $45,807 (€39,099)
Marketing manager
The average salary is $61,930 (€52,861) per year — minus French taxes, that is $45,339 (€38,699). There are 10 remote marketing manager roles available in France which have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month. Tencent, the Chinese tech giant, and Swile (ex Lunchr), the meal voucher company, are hiring.
Legal officer
The average salary for this role is $62,818 (€53,619) per year — take-home pay is $45,890 (€39,170). No remote vacancies have been added on LinkedIn for legal officer roles in July.
Germany — Average national salary: $49,699 (€42,421)
Customer support representative
The average salary is $20,793 (€17,748) per year — take-home pay is around $15,721 (€13,419). No remote vacancies have been posted on LinkedIn for this role in Germany during July.
Java software engineer
The average salary is $69,221 (€59,084) per year, and take-home pay is $38,546 (€32,901). There are currently four remote roles available that have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month. The financial technology startup Scalable Capital and the e‑commerce trustmark provider Trusted Shop are among those hiring.
Spain — Average national salary: $32,180 (€27,468)
Customer support representative
The average salary is $23,068 (€19,690) per year, making take-home pay around $18,708 (€15,969). There are currently two open remote customer support representative roles in Spain that have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month. The photography startup Kioskö and the survey company UsaSurveyJobBoard are hiring.
Key account manager
The average salary is $55,202 (€47,118) per year — you will be taking home around $40,110 (€34,236). No remote vacancies have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month.
Netherlands — Average national salary: $56,656 (€48,359)
Customer support representative
The average salary is $41,348 (€35,293) per year — with taxes paid you will be taking home around $32,562 (€27,794). No remote vacancies in the Netherlands have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month.
Administrative assistant
The average salary is $55,941 (€47,749) per year — average take-home pay is $40,002 (€34,144). No remote vacancies have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month.
Italy - Average national salary: $35,180 (€30,028)
Customer support representative
The average salary is $48,749 (€41,610) per year. Take-home pay averages $31,758 (€27,107). No remote vacancies have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month.
Administrative assistant
The average salary is $33,623 (€28,699) per year, which will take home around $22,992 (€19,625). No remote vacancies have been posted on LinkedIn in the past month.
